Honda has officially announced that Red Bull will return as a sponsor of its factory MotoGP team starting from the 2027 season. The deal marks the end of a four-year absence after the Austrian energy drink brand terminated its agreement with HRC in 2023, shortly after Marc Marquez's departure to Gresini Racing. The announcement on Thursday confirms a greater commitment than before, with Red Bull logos expected to become more prominent on the new prototype, extending beyond the fairings and front forks.
HRC President Koji Watanabe welcomed the partnership. “Going into the new championship, with the 850cc bikes, it is essential to have partners who share the same goals and ambitions. I have no doubt about what we can achieve together, and I know we will be able to give our fans some incredible moments,” he said in an official statement. This suggests that Red Bull will not only be a financial sponsor but also involved in technical development and Honda's marketing strategy.
The impact of this deal is immediately felt in the rider market. Fabio Quartararo, who is set to become Honda's flagship rider in 2027, must end his relationship with Monster Energy. The Frenchman has been sponsored by Monster since his premier-class debut in 2019 with Yamaha. According to information gathered by Autosport, Quartararo had to pay a sum to terminate his agreement with the claw-mark brand, with the funds provided by Honda, which is undergoing a reorganisation in which marketing is taking on an increasingly important role.

Honda's decision to overhaul its sponsor lineup is closely linked to the technical regulation changes in 2027. The 850cc bikes will usher in a new era that demands strong synergy between the team, manufacturer, and commercial partners. Honda, which has struggled to compete at the front in recent seasons, is now trying to rebuild its foundations, not only technically but also in terms of financial and branding support. The special livery commemorating the 60th anniversary of Honda's premier-class debut in 1966 is one signal that they are serious about commercial aspects.
Meanwhile, Monster Energy is reportedly set to end its role as Yamaha's title sponsor, a position it has held since 2019 when it replaced Movistar. The US company has joined Aprilia midway through this season as title sponsor of the Noale manufacturer's factory team, while maintaining a smaller presence with the Ducati factory team. This shift underscores the increasingly competitive sponsor market in MotoGP, where teams and manufacturers must carefully choose partners that align with their long-term vision.
For Honda, Red Bull's return is not just about finances. The presence of this global brand is expected to boost the team's appeal to fans and other business partners, especially as they enter a new era with 850cc bikes. This collaboration also signals that Honda is ready to compete at the top level again after several difficult years. Red Bull's greater support will give HRC more room to develop the bike and support its riders.
On the other hand, Quartararo must adapt to a major change in his career. After years of being synonymous with Monster, he now has to build a new image with Honda and Red Bull. This transition affects not only commercial aspects but also the internal dynamics of the team, where the rider-sponsor relationship can influence the working atmosphere. Honda hopes Quartararo can quickly focus fully on bike development and championship targets.
With this move, Honda shows that it is investing not only in technology but also in brand strength and marketing. Red Bull's return to HRC marks a new chapter in MotoGP competition, which is not just about speed on track but also business strategy behind the scenes. The 2027 season will be a proving ground for Honda and Red Bull to rebuild the glory they once achieved together.
