Raul Fernandez Wins 2026 British MotoGP, Aprilia Sweeps Podium

Raul Fernandez delivered a flawless performance at Silverstone, leading from lights to flag to secure his first win of the season in the British MotoGP on Sunday. The victory extended Silverstone's remarkable streak of different grand prix winners to twelve in a row.

The key moment came at the start. As Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura ran wide at Turn 1 due to locked rear ride-height devices, Fernandez seized the holeshot and never looked back. By mid-race, he had stretched his lead to over four seconds over the factory Aprilia duo of Martin and Marco Bezzecchi.

His blistering early pace raised questions about tyre management, but Fernandez controlled the gap masterfully, crossing the line 2.5 seconds ahead of Martin, the championship leader and Sprint winner. It was a perfect redemption after his Sprint error.

Behind them, Bezzecchi fended off late pressure from Gresini Ducati's Alex Marquez to secure his second podium of the season, completing an all-Aprilia podium at the British circuit.

Meanwhile, Fernandez's team-mate Ai Ogura crashed out of seventh on lap ten, his first race mistake of the year. Earlier, Joan Mir and Alex Rins tangled on the opening lap, both falling, but the FIM Stewards took no further action.

Enea Bastianini, Iker Lecuona, Cal Crutchlow, Francesco Bagnaia, and Ogura also crashed later. Marc Marquez, struggling with tyre degradation in the Sprint, focused on nursing his rear tyre and finished seventh, behind Pedro Acosta and Fabio Di Giannantonio. The next round at Aragon takes place at the end of this month.
