Raul Fernandez Commits to Trackhouse Until 2028, Ready for 850cc Era

Trackhouse has officially announced the contract extension of Raul Fernandez for the next two MotoGP seasons, 2027 and 2028. This decision ends negotiations that dragged on for nearly six months and secures one of the most promising young riders on the grid for the new 850cc technical regulations.

This agreement is a significant strategic move for the American squad. Earlier talks were stalled by differing views on contract length; Fernandez insisted on a full two-year deal, while the team preferred more flexibility. With the contract now secured through 2028, long-term stability is ensured amid the regulatory transition that will reshape the competitive landscape.

Team owner Justin Marks welcomed the continued partnership. He emphasized that Fernandez has shown full commitment to the team's vision and has grown significantly, both in on-track performance and maturity. Marks is also optimistic that the current combination of rider and machinery can become a consistent championship contender in the future.

Fernandez's MotoGP journey has been dynamic. After a stellar Moto2 campaign in 2021 with eight wins and seven pole positions, he stepped up to MotoGP with Tech3-KTM in 2022. However, his debut season was tough, and he managed to break his contract to join Aprilia's satellite team RNF, which was later acquired by Trackhouse.

Last year, he scored his first premier-class victory at the Australian Grand Prix and ended the season with a podium in Valencia. This season, he has already collected three podiums – in Thailand, Assen, and Sachsenring – and is chasing his second win.

For 2027, Fernandez is expected to be joined by Enea Bastianini as his teammate. Bastianini managed to free himself from his Tech3-KTM contract after two difficult seasons and will join Trackhouse with full factory support from Aprilia. This combination is expected to elevate the team to new heights.

As reported by Autosport, this decision underscores Trackhouse's ambition to compete at the top of MotoGP and provides certainty for Fernandez to continue developing in a familiar environment.
