Monza once again witnessed the resurgence of Racing Bulls. The Faenza-based squad brought home a valuable result with both cars finishing in the points, a feat they have achieved several times this season. However, the celebration must be put on hold for now. While Arvid Lindblad's eighth place seems safe, the fate of Yuki Tsunoda, who finished tenth, hangs in the balance.
The reason is that Audi has officially lodged a protest over a procedural infringement by Yuki Tsunoda during the restart. The incident occurred when the race was halted under red flags following an accident involving Charles Leclerc. On the formation lap, Tsunoda was reported to have failed to position his car correctly on the grid. Despite this, he was not penalized, and the race resumed after an additional formation lap.
“Today we had a good race, and I am really happy with the result and to be back in the points,” said Tsunoda, who is still awaiting the stewards' decision. “A huge thank you to everyone at VCARB for helping me get back up to speed so quickly. I was a bit worried about making the medium tires last until the end, but they performed better than expected. I am really enjoying learning all the new aspects of the car and continuing to improve, taking every opportunity that comes my way.”
On the other side, Lindblad wore a wide smile. The only rookie on the 2026 grid played a key role in bringing Racing Bulls back into the points after a blank at Zandvoort. “It was a positive race for us, and it's fantastic to score points at one of our home races, with me and Yuki both in the top ten,” said Arvid Lindblad. “After the restart, it was a bit of a lonely race for me once I got onto the hard tires, as there weren't many overtakes to be made. Still, I think eighth place was the best result we could have achieved today, and considering the pace Alpine showed all weekend, it was a good race to limit the damage.”
This result is a valuable boost for Racing Bulls. They have shown that their car remains competitive on various track characteristics, something that was questioned after their failure in the Netherlands. Now, their attention turns to the next round in Madrid, where Lindblad is eager to try the new circuit. “I've driven the new track on the simulator, and it looks like a real driver's circuit. I think it will be fun, but it will also present challenges, as it's a very technical layout. Kudos to the team for the work they are doing; we have a strong car that has been competitive on every track so far, and that gives us a lot of confidence for the upcoming rounds.”
