German manufacturer Porsche is reportedly evaluating the development of a brand-new mid-engine internal combustion sports car as part of an ambitious revival plan. This upcoming flagship proposal is ideally positioned above the iconic Porsche 911, serving as a core pillar within a broader corporate strategy designed to revitalize the brand's market standing and financial health.
According to reports from FormulaPassion, this new supercar project moves forward alongside plans to introduce a new Porsche Macan featuring a traditional internal combustion engine, alongside a large SUV positioned above the existing Porsche Cayenne. Concurrently, the automaker aims to place a much stronger emphasis on high-end variants and halo models to capture upper-tier market segments.
This strategic shift follows revenue and profit declines recorded in 2025. In response to these fiscal pressures, CEO Michael Leiters has initiated a comprehensive restructuring program aimed at rebalancing the company's economic results. The German executive introduced a medium-term strategy titled Sportwagenschmiede 35, structured to make Porsche significantly more efficient, productive, and profitable while integrating elements of industrial precision and brand heritage.

Under the updated framework, the primary focus centers on celebrating the brand's heritage as a pure sports car manufacturer, bridging the gap between sporty luxury and premium segments. The product lineup will feature a balanced powertrain mix with continued investment in gasoline engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles, accompanied by a reduction in total model variants and targeted expansions in high-margin D and E segments.
On the operational front, the company aims to streamline engineering and manufacturing activities, bringing the break-even threshold below the 200,000-unit mark. The restructuring plan encompasses reduced development costs and workforce adjustments, while the development of a dedicated supercar platform and a concept car named Mission S underline the brand's forward-looking roadmap leading up to 2028.
