Bright young star Pedro Acosta has openly voiced his strong opposition to the proposed changes for the MotoGP weekend format slated for 2027. Amidst his intense preparations on the track, the Spanish rider did not hold back when discussing the sweeping modifications to regulations, calendars, and weekend sessions that lie ahead.
As reported by Motosan.es, the rider from Mazarron expressed his frustration regarding how little influence competitors have over major structural changes in the world championship. He pointed out that the relentless pace inside the team garage leaves virtually no free time during a grand prix weekend for riders to sit down and discuss these critical regulatory shifts.
"Da igual lo que pensemos, porque de todas formas no podemos elegir. Va a ser un ano realmente duro," stated Pedro Acosta, highlighting the helpless feeling among athletes who must simply accept decisions made from above without genuine representation in the decision-making process.
The physical and psychological toll is amplified by a grueling calendar featuring 22 Grands Prix and a staggering 44 races throughout the season. Competitors are constantly forced to push past the limit through high-stress pre-qualifying sessions, intense qualifying blocks, sprint races, and full-length grands prix that demand absolute physical sacrifice.
Concluding his thoughts, Pedro Acosta emphasized that motorcycle racing carries an inherently higher risk of physical trauma compared to car racing. With an already alarming injury rate across the grid, rushing through packed schedules without proper warm-up sessions will only heighten the danger for everyone competing at the elite level.
