Pedro Acosta claimed victory in a bizarre Sepang MotoGP sprint that was threatened by rain late on, coming out on top of a intense four-way battle for the race win. He triumphed by 0.578 seconds over Marc Marquez, who strengthened his championship position with a crucial second-place finish.
The race saw early drama when the pole-sitter controlled the pace for the opening four laps before sliding out of the lead at Turn 14. This handed the advantage to chasing contenders, setting up a chaotic scramble at the front as weather conditions deteriorated rapidly.
Rain drops prompted the deployment of the white flag on lap two, allowing riders to swap bikes. While a few riders elected to gamble on pit stops for wet setups, the tricky transitions saw them struggle significantly with lap times compared to those staying out on slicks during the drying-to-damp phase.

With three laps remaining, Acosta launched his race-winning move at the front of the pack, holding off relentless pressure to secure the top step of the podium. Behind him, the battle for the remaining podium spots went down to the wire in demanding conditions.
