Pedro Acosta faced a harsh reality check during the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi after struggling to extract competitive pace from his RC16 machine. Starting from a strong grid position, the rookie slipped backward early on and had to fight tooth and nail just to salvage a decent points finish.
The race quickly turned into a difficult defensive exercise as grip issues hampered his braking performance and corner exits. Despite brief moments of recovery, he ultimately crossed the finish line in a lonely seventh place after fading late in the race.
Reflecting on the tough Sunday afternoon, the youngster admitted it was his first genuinely difficult Grand Prix in quite a while. The sudden shift in behavior compared to his strong Saturday form left both the rider and his crew searching for answers.

According to Crash.net, the factory KTM star emphasized that telemetry data will be crucial to understand why the bike behaved so strangely regarding tire management and setup balance.
Finishing seventh is certainly not a disaster, but the data analysis from Motegi will serve as vital preparation before the paddock packs up and heads to the next overseas round.
