The race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit offered a much-needed morale boost for Pecco Bagnaia following a turbulent campaign. The Italian rider has historically enjoyed strong outings at the Qatari venue, boasting previous pole positions and commanding race victories under the desert lights.
Kicking off the Persian Gulf weekend under floodlights, the two-time world champion bounced back into strong form by securing fourth place in the Friday evening time attack. He finished just 0.386 seconds shy of pacesetter Fabio Di Giannantonio, while his factory teammate showed impressive pace right near the top of the timesheets.
"I really enjoyed riding today," Bagnaia explained regarding his competitive session. "Given the asphalt characteristics and the track layout, I expected fewer rear grip issues. At the entry phase of the corners, I felt much more support coming from the rear tyre, though it took me a moment to realize I could push significantly harder here."

The factory Ducati rider added that finding the right balance enabled him to provide much clearer feedback to his engineering crew, a stark contrast to his struggles with rear wheel spin during previous rounds like Sepang.
"When the bike behaves predictably, it is much easier to work in a concrete direction and give precise feedback to my team. Here, I knew exactly what I needed from the machine," he emphasized as he prepares for the upcoming qualifying sessions and sprint race.
As he prepares to switch manufacturers for the upcoming season, Bagnaia remains fully dedicated to extracting maximum potential from his current machinery during the remaining rounds in Doha, Portimao, and Valencia.
