Sami Pajari has once again etched his name at the top of the 2026 WRC standings. The young Finnish driver successfully delivered his third consecutive victory, this time at the dramatic Rally Paraguay. Prior to this, Pajari had won in Estonia and Finland, making him the most consistent Toyota driver this season.
This victory feels special because it was achieved under difficult conditions for the Toyota team. Many of their star drivers faced issues ranging from punctures to crashes. Yet Pajari remained calm and managed to lead the rally from the start.
A Tense Super Sunday
The final day of the rally was marked by intense battles among the drivers. Sebastien Ogier was fastest in SS18, but the more interesting move came from Adrien Fourmaux, who climbed to third overall after overtaking Elfyn Evans.
Oliver Solberg impressed with fastest times on several stages, but could not shake Pajari's dominance. At the power stage, Pajari remained in front and sealed the win.
Unfortunately, the rally was marred by a horrific incident involving Takamoto Katsuta. The Japanese driver crashed heavily after his car rolled and hit a telegraph pole. Fortunately, Katsuta and his co-driver Aaron Johnston escaped with minor injuries and were taken to hospital for checks.
After the incident, the rally was halted and SS21 was cancelled, but that did not change the standings. Pajari remained the best and celebrated his third win of the season.
With this result, Pajari is closing in on championship leader Elfyn Evans. The fight for the world title is heating up and will be fascinating to watch.
