The FIA World Motor Sport Council has officially approved the WRC calendar for the upcoming season, bringing a wave of major changes including a massive shake-up for the Italian leg of the championship. The country will remain one of the fifteen host nations of the global series, though a historic era is coming to an end.
After two decades of thrilling battles across the gravel tracks of the Mediterranean island, Rally Italy is permanently leaving Sardegna behind. The championship is shifting its focus to the asphalt roads of the Lazio region, where Rally di Roma Capitale makes a massive leap forward by graduating from the ERC straight into the world championship tier.
This dramatic shift in scenery is scheduled to take place from July 8th to 11th, placing Italy firmly at the center of the motorsport world in a calendar that also features several exciting new additions and long-awaited returns for international rallying fans.

Alongside the dramatic Italian relocation, the championship will return to the United States for the first time since 1988 in late August, followed closely by a highly anticipated return to Scotland from late September through October. All other traditional rounds have received full confirmation for the upcoming campaign, including the inclusion of the Rally of Saudi Arabia after its cancellation due to Middle Eastern conflicts.
Meanwhile, the only notable absence from the upcoming schedule will be the Rally of Portugal, though discussions regarding a potential return for the legendary event as early as the 2028 season are already in place.
