The infamous internal team guidelines found their way back into the Formula 1 news cycle after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri made contact during the closing stages of the 20-lap sprint race at the Marina Bay Circuit. Bringing back unwanted flashbacks from the previous season, the clumsy clash immediately triggered sharp reactions from the McLaren leadership.
Even though the stakes in the championship standings differed significantly from their previous title battles, the wheel-to-wheel scrap over a mere fourth place carried heavy consequences. The avoidable incident inflicted material damage on the cars, increasing the workload for the mechanics and threatening the team's strict budget cap constraints during a crucial development phase.

Team principal Andrea Stella was visibly frustrated immediately after the checkered flag dropped, publicly condemning the intra-team contact as completely unacceptable behavior from both drivers.
"It is serious because the damage for the team is material. We are in a close fight in the championship," Stella explained, highlighting how unnecessary repair costs and gearbox replacements hamper their overall campaign against fierce rivals.
Stella had hoped that exhaustive talks from past seasons would permanently prevent such avoidable mistakes. However, this fresh flashpoint proves that maintaining harmony and discipline remains an ongoing challenge for the Woking-based outfit.
