Nicolo Bulega has revealed the exhausting 900-kilometre journey he completed in order to participate in Ducati’s first 850cc MotoGP test at Mugello.

The Italian rider had just completed a historic weekend at the Hungarian WorldSBK round after securing his 14th, 15th, and 16th consecutive victories. The achievement broke the previous winning streak record held by Toprak Razgatlioglu since mid-2024.

Bulega’s 16th consecutive victory also marked his 32nd WorldSBK win overall in only 84 races. The statistic officially made him the fastest rider in WorldSBK history to reach that milestone, surpassing Troy Bayliss’ previous record achieved in 94 races.

In addition, Bulega is now tied for the longest podium streak in WorldSBK history with 25 consecutive podium finishes, matching both Razgatlioglu and Colin Edwards.

However, immediately after finishing the Balaton Park weekend, Bulega had to begin a lengthy road trip across Europe to reach Mugello for Ducati’s 850cc MotoGP test.

“The test was short but very enjoyable. I only completed 25 laps because I drove myself from Balaton to Mugello, around 900 kilometres,” Bulega explained.

The Ducati rider admitted he arrived at Mugello feeling physically tired after the demanding cross-Europe drive.

“The next day I arrived at Mugello for the MotoGP test, so I was a bit tired. But it was still very nice because I finally had the chance to try the bike,” he added.

Bulega also described the experience as emotional because he had not ridden at Mugello for three years before the MotoGP outing.

“It had been three years since I last rode at Mugello, so it was very special to return there on a MotoGP bike,” he said.

Bulega’s future remains uncertain for now. The Italian rider is still pursuing a possible MotoGP promotion for the 2027 season, although he also remains open to continuing his career in WorldSBK.

“MotoGP is the dream for every rider because since childhood we always watched the highest level of motorcycle racing, and that is MotoGP. But WorldSBK also gives me huge motivation and I would still be happy if I stayed here,” Bulega explained.

This weekend Bulega will switch his attention back to the Czech WorldSBK round at Most, the circuit where he secured victory in Race 2 last season with Ducati.
