Nicolo Bulega reinforced his dominance in the 2026 WorldSBK season by securing pole position during the Superpole session at Balaton Park. The Ducati rider continued his strong qualifying form, underlining the Italian manufacturer’s superiority in single-lap performance this year.
Ducati’s advantage extends beyond outright pace, with the overall package delivering consistent performance across riders. The combination of chassis stability and strong corner-exit traction has proven particularly effective at a technical circuit like Balaton, where rapid direction changes and controlled acceleration are critical.
This dominance reflects the depth of Ducati’s competitiveness, placing increased pressure on rival manufacturers still searching for the optimal balance between electronics, tyre management, and peak qualifying performance.

Meanwhile, Iker Lecuona, who showed strong pace in practice, failed to translate that speed into Superpole. The Honda rider struggled to maximise his first run and could not extract peak performance on his second SCQ tyre attempt, highlighting the narrow operating window of qualifying rubber.
Yamaha, on the other hand, displayed signs of progress, although still not enough to challenge Ducati at the front. The improvement appears linked to more aggressive setup choices, particularly in enhancing front-end stability under heavy braking.
Overall, the Hungarian Superpole session confirmed Ducati as the benchmark for qualifying performance in WorldSBK 2026. However, with race conditions presenting different variables, the focus now shifts to whether rivals can translate incremental gains into competitive race pace as the season progresses.
