The junior single-seater landscape is set for an exciting shake-up as Niccolo Maccagnani officially secures a graduation to the FIA Formula 3 Championship for next season. The 16-year-old rising star will join the Trident squad to take on the intense challenges of the international feeder series.
As a valued member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Maccagnani has already built up crucial experience in higher categories through cameo appearances last September. He drove for Rodin Motorsport during the F3 season finale at the newly introduced Circuito de Madring, before showcasing his adaptable pace with BVM Racing in Euroformula at Monza.
His primary campaign this year has centered around Formula 4 competitions alongside Prema. He secured fourth place in the UAE4 standings early in the year with two race victories, proving his raw speed and racecraft before taking on additional developmental rounds in European circuits.
Trident team manager Giacomo Ricci expressed absolute delight in welcoming the young prospect to their lineup, emphasizing the magnitude of the upcoming challenge in the highly competitive F3 grid.
"Niccolo is a young driver who has already demonstrated his speed and potential, excelling in the junior formulae," Ricci stated regarding the new signing.
"The FIA F3 Championship will represent a significant challenge, with cars and a competitiveness level that are higher than anything he has faced so far. We are ready to provide Niccolo with full support in this new phase of his career," he concluded.
Maccagnani's arrival completes Trident's potent three-car lineup for next year, alongside fellow rising talents Kean Nakamura-Berta and Sebastian Wheldon.
