High-level management dynamics continue to unfold in international motorsport as Honda prepares for a fresh chapter on the world's most prestigious racing stage. The Japanese manufacturer is set to welcome a new racing boss next year following the retirement of current president and CEO Koji Watanabe, the pivotal figure who helped manage the manufacturer’s official return to Formula 1.
Leadership at Honda Racing Corporation will officially transition to Keiichi Yasuda on January 1. This executive change is scheduled slightly earlier than the typical April corporate adjustments to align more smoothly with the demanding global motorsport calendar.
Prior to stepping into the top role, Yasuda served as HRC’s executive vice president and representative director. Much like Watanabe, he is a seasoned company veteran who has been with Honda since 1990, bringing deep organizational experience across various sectors of the automotive giant.

Watanabe originally assumed the HRC position as part of a major motorsport restructuring in 2022, which unified motorcycle and car racing programs under a single entity. That positioned him as a senior figure managing Honda’s enduring relationship with Red Bull through the end of 2025 alongside the new engine project with Aston Martin.
Honda stated that this planned periodic personnel rotation is designed to strengthen the management structure in response to global transformation and accelerate business expansion for the next generation. With Yasuda bringing a strong background from the human resources division and deep interest in motorcycle activities, the transition aims to solidify leadership stability.
