Under the warm Gold Coast sun at Parkwood Golf Club, Australian and New Zealand motorsport legends gathered once again. The annual Motorsport Legends Reunion Lunch 2026 is more than a luncheon; it's a nostalgic haven where racing history comes alive through stories and decades-old friendships.
At the heart of the event were two great names from the open-wheel era: Warwick Brown of Australia and Graeme Lawrence of New Zealand. They shared tales of fierce rivalry and the determination required to race internationally. Their stories reminded everyone that those times were defined by grit and sheer will.
Host Brett "Crusher" Murray led engaging on-stage interviews, including a conversation with Mark Larkham, former racer turned renowned technical analyst. Larkham offered a unique perspective on motorsport's evolution, from machinery to team-fan communication. "This annual reunion is truly one of the highlights of the year for so many in the room," Murray said.
The event, initiated by Ian Maudsley and now steered by Mark Stibbard, has a simple mission: celebrate the people behind the sport. This year, media personalities took the spotlight, with generations represented by Ray Berghouse, Steve Normoyle, Paul Cross, and others—unsung witnesses to racing history.
Amid the clinking glasses, humorous and controversial stories flowed. "For every official version of a race, there's another waiting to be told with a smile," one guest noted. The day proved that even if the cars are parked, the stories keep running. This reunion isn't just about remembering the past; it's about ensuring the contributions of motorsport heroes are never forgotten.
