MotoGP Qatar 2026 Confirmed: Alessio Salucci Gives VR46 Crew Freedom

The certainty of holding the MotoGP Qatar round on November 8 has finally become clear following intense discussions among paddock leaders. VR46 team boss Alessio Salucci confirmed that the race at the Lusail circuit will go ahead 100 percent despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties in the region raising concerns among team members.

This complex situation arose following various calendar adjustments this season, including the cancellation of sessions in Phillip Island due to severe weather and previous schedule shifts prompted by conflicts in the Middle East. Amidst this uncertainty, championship executives and promoters remain steadfast in proceeding with the Qatar event to maintain the integrity of the racing calendar.

In his statement to the media, the manager widely known as Uccio openly discussed the contractual dilemmas faced by independent structures like his squad. On one hand, legal obligations with the promoter mandate that every team must bring their riders and machinery to the track to avoid heavy penalties or legal actions from the championship organizers.

However, on the other hand, the safety and psychological well-being of the crew and riders remain top priorities that cannot be ignored. Therefore, the management is providing complete autonomy for anyone inside the garage to make their own choices without any moral pressure to attend the race weekend.

“We had another meeting with the promoter and they confirmed 100% that we are going to Qatar,” Salucci stated. “If a rider does not want to show up, it is a personal matter, but our contract says we must always get the riders to the track, so in theory they could take action against us.”

Furthermore, the key figure within the squad founded by Valentino Rossi emphasized that the decision to travel to Lusail is an entirely private matter for each individual. Official security guarantees from the local government have been requested through the promoter, yet personal conscience remains the ultimate safeguard for the people working in the garage.

“I respect the riders: we know the situation is not the best and everyone thinks in their own way, it is a very personal matter. If something really happens, we do not want to have anyone on our conscience forever. The issue is delicate and must be handled professionally,” he concluded.
