MotoGP legend Marc Marquez has revealed he offered crucial advice to Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar following the latter's wrist injury. Hadjar was forced to sit out the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with Liam Lawson stepping in at Red Bull and Yuki Tsunoda moving up to the sister team. The hope is for Hadjar to return for the Italian Grand Prix, though no confirmation has been made yet.
The Red Bull driver has impressed throughout the first half of the 2026 season. While the injury came at an inconvenient time as the second half began, withdrawing from Zandvoort allowed him to rest and recover. This decision aligns with the long-term perspective that Marquez, a seven-time world champion, emphasized in their conversation.
Marquez's Advice: Don't Rush the Comeback
Speaking to the official MotoGP website, Marquez shared details of his exchange with Hadjar. "Hadjar contacted me. I'm not a doctor, but just for advice because sometimes it's super difficult for a rider or driver to accept skipping a race," Marquez said. "I learned in the past that missing one race will not change your life. Missing more or worsening an injury because you ride too early can change your life."

Marquez referred to his own career-altering injury at Jerez in 2020, where he broke his right humerus, leading to multiple surgeries and a season-ending absence. "My life changed a lot since the Jerez injury, so I tried to give that advice to Isack. I think he took the correct decision because he has a long career in front of him," he added.
This guidance comes at a pivotal moment for Hadjar, who is building momentum in his rookie season. Missing points at Zandvoort may sting, but with wisdom from one of the greatest riders in history, Hadjar can return stronger at Mugello. The decision to rest now appears strategic for his championship hopes.
With Red Bull's support and Marquez's experienced perspective, Hadjar is well-equipped to handle the remainder of the season. Whether he will race in Italy remains uncertain, but his maturity in handling physical and mental pressure at the highest level is evident.
