Monza Sprint: Durksen Wins, Tsolov Extends Lead Over Mini

Joshua Durksen emerged victorious in the Formula 2 Sprint Race at Monza, Italy. Starting from seventh, the Paraguayan driver climbed to the top step, delivering a much-needed boost for the Invicta team after Rafael Camara's retirement.

This win is a massive morale booster for Invicta. Durksen finished ahead of Bennett and Goethe, while the championship contenders lost valuable points.

Early-Lap Drama and Safety Cars

The race was intense from the lights out. Bennett held the lead, but Goethe lost second to Inthraphuvasak. Durksen surged to fourth in no time.

The battle between Goethe and Inthraphuvasak raged for several laps, finally resolving on lap five. However, the critical moment came when Camara crashed at the first chicane after contact with Varrone, prompting the first Safety Car.

After the restart, Durksen seized his chance, passing Bennett and leading to the finish. A second Safety Car for Bilinski's spin didn't change the top three.

Title Implications: Tsolov Extends

This result widened Nikola Tsolov's lead in the standings. Tsolov finished fifth, while Gabriele Mini, starting tenth after a penalty, could only manage a points-less finish.

Thus, Tsolov's advantage over Mini has grown. The title fight is now more intense ahead of the Feature Race, which could be decisive.
