Honda Team Asia rider, Veda Ega Pratama, has dropped down the order in the MotoGP world championship standings for the Moto3 class following the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. Starting the race from 13th on the grid, the talented Indonesian rookie crossed the finish line in eighth position. This hard-fought result on Sunday afternoon brought an immediate blow to his championship position, stripping him of his status as the highest-placed rookie in the class.
Compared to previous rounds where he displayed dominant rookie form, the Indonesian prospect struggled to maintain his front-running momentum on Mugello's ultra-fast layout. The long straight of the Italian venue saw his machine heavily challenged by rivals exploiting the slipstream effect. This loss of maximum draft forced him into aggressive braking maneuvers, which heavily compromised his chassis balance and consistency during the crucial final stages of the race.
Following the chequered flag, his position at the top of the rookie standings was officially taken over by Brian Uriarte, who capitalized on a brilliant victory. With 66 points now to his name, Veda trails his former Red Bull Rookies Cup rival by a single point in the standings. Furthermore, the championship gap from behind has shrunk significantly after Malaysian rider, Hakim Danish, secured a superb third-place podium finish to mount a serious threat from lower down the standings.

Fierce Midfield Battle and Front Group Drama
The Moto3 race at Mugello was highly dynamic right from the start, with Veda initially struggling to break into the top ten during the opening five laps. This was in stark contrast to CFMoto Aspar Team rider, Maximo Quiles, who started two spots behind the Indonesian in 15th but rapidly carved through the field to lead the pack before the halfway distance.
The fight for the podium reached a boiling point as a trio of Honda riders consisting of Adrian Fernandez, Eddie O'Shea, and Joel Kelso initiated a sequence of aggressive overtakes. Veda managed to find his competitive rhythm late in the race, slicing through the slipstream train to join the elite group with five laps remaining. However, the high-frequency overtaking maneuvers in the leading group constantly shifted the running order at every corner.
Slipstream Deficit and Sudden Tyre Degradation
Despite executing an impressive charge to climb as high as fourth place, Veda ultimately succumbed to the technical superiority of his rivals on Mugello's main straight on the final lap. His defensive positioning and corner exit drive proved less effective than the packages of the Red Bull KTM Ajo duo, Brian Uriarte and Alvaro Carpe, who went on to secure a dominant one-two finish for the Austrian manufacturer.
A minor deficit in corner exit acceleration coming out of the final turn left the Indonesian rider vulnerable to being swamped by the chasing pack without the crucial slipstream protection. The intense fighting in the leading group also triggered severe tyre degradation, leaving him with limited rear grip during the final lap sprint. This outcome leaves his technical crew with plenty of data to analyze regarding engine mapping adjustments ahead of the next round.
