Lando Norris admitted that the intra-team collision during the recent sprint weekend in Singapore triggered heavy discussions and strict warnings within the McLaren garage.
The contact on the final lap involving the two team-mates became a major talking point amidst a weekend otherwise highlighted by Max Verstappen's dominant pace and George Russell's struggles on track.
The incident occurred entering turn five following an attempted overtaking maneuver by the British driver, marking another high-profile flashpoint in the ongoing intra-team rivalry.

Despite the severity of the contact, the team management decided not to alter their fundamental racing guidelines ahead of round 18 of the 2026 F1 season at the Circuit of the Americas.
"I can go for a gap on Oscar," he explained to reporters, indicating that the freedom to race wheel-to-wheel remains intact under the team's overarching sporting philosophy.
However, the collision certainly shifted the atmosphere behind closed doors, prompting a series of stern conversations between the drivers and the team leadership.
"I got plenty of telling offs and plenty of words have been said, but we’re still allowed to race," he noted regarding the direct feedback he received from the management.
The strict guidance emphasizes that while competitive racing is encouraged, avoiding avoidable contact is paramount to protect the team's championship aspirations.
"Of course we can’t have what happened last weekend, and what has happened even here last year, we can’t have that happening," he added, stressing the need for better on-track judgment.
On the opening day of practice at the United States Grand Prix, both McLaren cars finished inside the top ten, collecting vital data ahead of the crucial qualifying sessions.
As reported by Crash.net, the American round serves as a crucial testbench for McLaren's technical package and racecraft discipline as the season enters its final stretch.
