A thrilling qualifying session under the floodlights of the Lusail International Circuit saw Maximo Quiles masterfully claim pole position for Sunday's lightweight class race.
The young Spanish rider representing the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team dominated the timesheets with a blistering lap time of 2 minutes 02.288 seconds, proving untouchable despite a chaotic conclusion to the session.
The battle intensified earlier in Q1, where Brian Uriarte had to fight his way through the opening elimination phase. Uriarte showcased strong pace to top the Q1 standings with a 2:02.840, comfortably advancing to Q2 alongside Alvaro Carpe.

As Q2 got underway, Quiles immediately set a formidable benchmark that left his competitors scrambling. David Almansa tried hard to respond but finished 0.155 seconds adrift, while Uriarte rounded out the front row in third place after a solid progression.
The final moments of the session turned into a tactical standoff in the pit lane as riders waited too long looking for a crucial slipstream. This hesitation backfired heavily, leaving several contenders unable to cross the line in time for a final flying lap, cementing Quiles at the very top of the timesheets.
