The crucial practice session under the dazzling floodlights of the Lusail International Circuit delivered intense drama for the lightweight class contenders. Maximo Quiles stamped his authority by setting the fastest lap time of 2 minutes 03.172 seconds on Friday evening. The Spanish rider showcased remarkable composure during a fierce battle at the top of the timesheets to secure a direct spot in Q2.
The 35-minute afternoon session provided non-stop action as track conditions continuously improved. David Almansa initially set a scorching pace, exchanging position with Quiles in a thrilling head-to-head duel. Ultimately, Quiles clinched the benchmark time, leaving Almansa 0.200 seconds adrift in second place.
A stunning turnaround came from David Munoz, who bounced back brilliantly from a heavy crash during the opening free practice. After struggling to find his rhythm early on, Munoz pulled off a phenomenal final run to claim third overall, just 0.271 seconds behind the leader, securing his direct passage to the second qualifying session.

Conversely, disaster struck the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad as both riders failed to secure direct entry into Q2. Alvaro Carpe narrowly missed the cutoff in fifteenth position, while Brian Uriarte languished down in twenty-first. Both riders will now face the daunting task of navigating through Q1 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Thai rider Kiattisak Singhapong endured an early setback after crashing into the gravel trap at Turn 9, though he walked away unscathed. With razor-thin margins across the field, Saturday's qualifying sessions promise even more fierce on-track battles.
