Ahead of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix weekend, Max Verstappen launched a strong critique against the severe bumps at the Circuit of the Americas, describing the track conditions as completely unacceptable and out of control.
The four-time world champion initially joked during a press conference that he would need to order a new spine. However, those lighthearted remarks quickly turned into serious grievances after he witnessed the punishing track conditions during the World Endurance Championship round in Texas.

"From what I saw in WEC, it was extremely badly bumpy. I'm not really looking forward to that, to be honest, for your spine," said Max Verstappen during the media day in Austin. He emphasized that drivers have raised concerns regarding these dangerous bumps for years without seeing a permanent fix.
The root cause of the issue lies in the unstable ground beneath the layout. Built on Texas' notorious high-plasticity clay, the circuit suffers from severe shrink-swell soil mechanics as weather conditions shift, leaving punishing undulations across heavy braking zones.
According to Motorsport.com, Max Verstappen stressed that race organizers must not use the problematic soil as a permanent excuse, urging them to properly reinforce the foundation rather than applying temporary surface patches.
