Ahead of this weekend's Formula 1 action, Max Verstappen has voiced major concerns regarding the severe bumps at the Circuit of the Americas. The Red Bull Racing star joked that the Austin layout might require him to secure a replacement spine due to the punishing track conditions.
Having closely monitored the track layout during WEC events, the Dutchman noted that COTA appeared exceptionally bumpy, raising immediate physical and technical concerns for the upcoming United States Grand Prix weekend.
"I mean, it’s very difficult to say. I don’t want to say now that I will be in the fight in Austin, but yeah, the last few weekends have been great," Verstappen said when discussing his competitive outlook.

Despite recent victories, the reigning world champion remains cautious about his prospects with the RB22 chassis. Dealing with unexpected mechanical reliability issues and car behavior from the Milton Keynes outfit adds another layer of complexity to their title defense.
"But I just take it race by race, and once we are in Austin, then we’ll see how it will go there. But it’s again a very different track. From what I saw in WEC, the track is incredibly bumpy. Oh my god, I probably need to order a new spine after the weekend, or become like Robocop. Crazy," he explained.
Looking beyond Austin, Verstappen also highlighted the upcoming high-altitude challenge in Mexico, where cooling management and engine performance will face extreme tests under unique atmospheric pressures.
