Stellantis is reportedly in talks with Chinese tech giant Huawei and JAC Group to forge a long-term industrial partnership that could determine the future of Maserati. The news, first broken by Reuters, has sent shockwaves through the global automotive industry.
The Tridente, as the Maserati brand is known, is fighting for survival. After a turbulent period with underwhelming performance, this strategic move is seen as a potential turning point for the Modena-based manufacturer.
From Europe to China: Stellantis' New Strategy
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa had earlier hinted that the group was expanding production partnerships, including for Maserati. Now, according to Milano Finanza, talks with Huawei and JAC have entered an advanced stage.

At the heart of the negotiations is the use of Huawei's “Harmony Intelligent Mobility” platform for future Maserati models. The ambitious target is to launch the first jointly developed vehicle by the end of 2027.
Even more intriguing is the dual-brand concept: one model would be sold in China under JAC's Maextro brand, while an international version would carry the Maserati nameplate.
Safeguarding Italian Plants and Production Goals
This deal is about more than just technology. Stellantis believes the collaboration could boost production rates at Maserati's plants in Cassino and Modena, Italy. That would be a welcome relief for workers and the local automotive sector.
Behind the scenes, financial pressure is real. Throughout 2025, Maserati reportedly delivered fewer than 8,000 vehicles to customers. Its adjusted operating loss was also substantial, reaching 198 million euros. These figures are a stark wake-up call for a brand synonymous with luxury and high performance.
