Marc Marquez delivered a masterclass performance to claim victory in the 2026 MotoGP Japanese GP Sprint at Motegi. Starting from second on the grid, the Ducati star executed a brilliant move at Turn 1 to snatch the lead from pole-sitter Jorge Martin.
Once out in clean air, the reigning champion controlled the pace effortlessly, pulling away from the chasing pack. Behind him, high drama unfolded on the final lap as mistakes and track limits penalties reshuffled the provisional podium order significantly.
Martin's late-race struggles and subsequent penalty handed a historic breakthrough result to rookie sensation Diogo Moreira, who inherited second place to score his career-first premier class podium. Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi struggled with a gamble on the rear medium tire, crossing the line in a disappointing sixth place.

The chaotic start also saw early carnage involving several contenders at the first corner, shaking up the midfield order and heavily impacting the ongoing championship battle as the grid prepares for Sunday's main race.
