The premier class action roared back to life at the Sepang International Circuit as Marc Marquez stamped his authority by topping the timesheets in the official Practice session. The veteran Spaniard set a blistering benchmark of 1:57.000, overcoming an early tumble at Turn 12 to lead a dominant 1-2 formation for the Borgo Panigale machines.
Following closely behind in second place was Alex Marquez, ensuring the Marquez family lockout at the very summit of the timing monitor. Breaking up an immediate chase right behind the leading Ducatis, Ai Ogura put in a stellar performance to slot into third position on the timesheets.
KTM once again showcased formidable pace on Malaysian soil, with Pedro Acosta leading the charge by securing fourth place. Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales also safely booked their spots in seventh and eighth respectively, leaving Brad Binder as the sole factory-backed KTM rider forced into the Q1 knockout phase on Saturday.

The major headline of the afternoon, however, centered around a dramatic early exit from a major title contender. Following a scare at Turn 12, the championship contender returned to the pitlane and ultimately retired from the session after seeking medical evaluation.
"In agreement with MotoGP Medical Director Dr Angel Charte, it has been decided that Jorge Martin will not complete the Practice session, allowing him extra time to recover ahead of the remainder of the weekend," his team explained regarding the difficult decision.
