The 2026 MotoGP world championship battle has officially evolved into a high-stakes head-to-head duel between Marc Marquez and his compatriot. Last weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi completely shook up the standings as the multi-time champion dominated both the Sprint and the main race.
This maximum haul means Jorge Martin saw his championship lead shrink to a razor-thin margin of just two points. Despite settling for third in the Sprint and second on Sunday, the Spaniard remains fully confident in his title defense campaign.
For Marquez, the strong weekend served as a definitive bounce-back from his braking issues in Austria. The Ducati star noted that his machine has felt exceptional ever since the Aragon round, allowing him to control the pace effortlessly at the front.

Meanwhile, Martin refuses to panic despite the vanishing gap. The Aprilia rider insists that his recent front-row qualifying speed and consistent podium finishes prove he has all the right tools to fight right to the very end.
