Factory Marco Bezzecchi successfully booked his direct ticket to the Q2 qualifying session after finishing Friday's practice inside the top six at the Sepang International Circuit. Operating as the sole representative in his garage following his teammate's absence, the Italian rider delivered a resilient performance on a circuit traditionally favoring rival manufacturers.
According to insights gathered by our collaborator Manuel Pecino, Bezzecchi admitted that today's positive balance was a massive relief compared to the severe struggles faced during last year's Malaysian Grand Prix weekend, keeping his championship aspirations alive under the scorching heat.
Evaluating his current pace against the opposition, Bezzecchi pointed out that Marc Marquez is currently operating on another level entirely. He noted that the multiple-time world champion looks clearly superior in both single-lap time attacks and sustained race simulations throughout the afternoon session.
He further added that Alex Marquez also holds a noticeable performance advantage, acknowledging that both brothers currently set the benchmark in the premier class while the rest of the field remains closely matched behind them.
Looking ahead to tomorrow's crucial sessions, Bezzecchi confirmed he has already identified several areas for improvement regarding machine setup and riding style to tackle the degrading rear tires and bumpy asphalt conditions.
