Marc Marquez may have taken a double victory at the 2026 Aragon Grand Prix, but there is one name that deserves more attention: Marco Bezzecchi. The Aprilia rider finished third in both the sprint and the main race, cutting the gap to championship leader Jorge Martin to just 24 points ahead of Misano.
A Sprint That Set the Tone
In the sprint, Marquez made a daring move on polesitter Bezzecchi at Turn 1 on the opening lap, securing 12 valuable points. However, the main race was anything but straightforward.
Marquez forgot to disengage his rear ride height device at the start, allowing Bezzecchi and teammate Jorge Martin to pass him. He had to fight hard to regain the lead.
Thrilling Duel at Turn 15
On lap six, Marquez closed a near-one-second gap to Bezzecchi and overtook him at Turn 15. The two then battled side-by-side down the kilometer-long back straight, with Marquez holding a slight edge into the braking zone.
Pedro Acosta from KTM also capitalized, passing Bezzecchi at Turns 16/17. Marquez then pulled away to win by 1.754 seconds.
Bezzecchi's Resurgence
Despite finishing third, Marco Bezzecchi showed remarkable resilience after his collarbone and knee injuries. Two consecutive podiums have made him competitive again. He is now just 24 points behind Jorge Martin and will be the favorite at Misano.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez once again demonstrated his dominance on anticlockwise circuits. This victory moved him to second in the standings, only 19 points behind Martin. However, the biggest story of the weekend might not be about Marquez, but about Bezzecchi slowly getting back on track.
