Marc Marquez sparked an unexpected paddock mystery at Motegi by skipping the pre-Japanese GP rider kart race and cleverly sending a body double wearing his helmet and gear instead.
The weekend schedule had been thrown into a brief state of flux after Saturday tyre concerns prompted teams to request an extended Sunday warm-up. Organizers ultimately squeezed in the additional track time alongside the traditional fan parade and the much-talked-about celebrity karting showdown.
While riders entertained the crowd, suspicion quickly arose around Marquez’s kart. Title rival Jorge Martin, positioned right beside the Ducati star on the grid, attempted to lift the visor to check the driver's identity before officials intervened.

Following a gruelling 20-minute warm-up session, Marquez opted to skip the lighthearted event to ice his right arm and undergo essential physiotherapy, leading to the spontaneous decision to deploy a doppelganger.
Although the stunt earned the Spaniard an official reprimand from the championship organizers, he remained unapologetic, prioritizing his physical fitness and championship ambitions over exhibition entertainment.
