MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez has boldly declared that he does not care about Jorge Martin's ongoing injury struggles ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang. The Spanish star insists that the championship battle is entirely in his own hands as he closes in on securing another premier class world title.

The title fight took a dramatic turn last weekend during the Australian Grand Prix sprint race at Phillip Island, where the Aprilia contender fractured his wrist following a heavy crash while battling for the race win. Although the cancellation of Sunday's main event due to poor weather prevented Marquez from extending his ten-point championship lead, the situation has dramatically altered the trajectory of the 2026 season.

Despite Martin being cleared to participate at Sepang, the 2024 world champion was forced to withdraw from Friday afternoon's practice session due to severe pain in his injured right hand. Speaking to the media after topping the timesheets on Friday, Marquez made it clear that his focus remains strictly on his own garage.

"Yes, I don't care," Marquez told reporters when asked about his rival's physical condition. "I'm in a position in the championship that's in my own hands, so I'm trying to get as close as possible to the target points. We see that Ducati is also working well here with Alex and Fabio Di Giannantonio, so we'll see. But it's only Friday. As we've seen at many circuits this year, the weekend can change, so we have to stay calm."

Having endured a long and grueling road to recovery following his severe right-arm fracture in 2020, Marquez understands the dangers of rushing back from major trauma. While refusing to judge the medical protocol that allowed his rival to ride, the veteran rider acknowledged that pushing through such an injury demands an immense physical toll.
