MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has attributed his third crash of the Buriram pre-season test to a “lack of concentration”, after falling during a race simulation on the final day of running.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider crashed at Turn 3 on Sunday while completing a long run, bringing an early end to his pre-season programme. Marquez was taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks but was declared uninjured and returned to the paddock shortly afterwards.

The 33-year-old revealed he had been dealing with a stomach illness throughout the weekend, which he believes contributed to the incident as his physical condition had not fully recovered.

“The plan was to do the long run and finish,” Marquez told media on Sunday.

“But I crashed in the long run, so I finished earlier.”

Despite the setback, he assessed the overall test as positive, though he acknowledged that his physical preparation still has room for improvement.

“[Testing was] not bad. It’s never enough because I still think I have margin in my physical condition.

“But saying that, we did a lot of laps yesterday and this morning.”

Marquez admitted fatigue may have played a role in the crash during the race simulation.

“Maybe also this afternoon I was too tired to do the long run. Honestly speaking, the crash was a lack of concentration a bit, because as yesterday I had problems with my stomach.

“Today it was much better, but the body did not come back in a good way.”

Throughout the Buriram test, Marquez suffered three falls, all of which he attributed to brief lapses in focus rather than fundamental issues with the GP26.

“All three crashes I had this weekend were a lack of concentration,” he explained.

“Of course, when you lack concentration, you go over the limit. But the problem is that I have that instinct to be fast, and when I’m fully concentrated, I can control it.

“If not, the speed is not something to control.”

Before the crash, Marquez’s long-run pace appeared competitive, reinforcing Ducati’s strong showing during pre-season. Compared to the same stage last year, the GP26 package has demonstrated greater stability and performance consistency.

Marquez confirmed he is fully decided on the specification he will use to begin the 2026 campaign.

“I’m 100% convinced and clear on what I need now and how we will start,” he said.

“For that reason, I was happy today. I was riding in a good way and I finished the pre-season with a good feeling.”

With testing concluded, attention now turns to the season-opening Thai Grand Prix, where Marquez and Ducati will begin their title defence following an encouraging, if physically demanding, pre-season.
