Mahindra Racing has officially announced contract extensions for Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara for the 2026/2027 season. The duo will continue with the Indian team, marking their fourth season together since joining in 2023/2024. This decision also prepares Mahindra for the new GEN4 era in Formula E.
Since joining, De Vries and Mortara have been the backbone of the team. Their collaboration led Mahindra to a third-place finish in the teams' championship last season, with a total of seven podiums, five pole positions, and two wins—all delivered by De Vries. This achievement is clear evidence of the team's increasingly competitive development direction.
“The last three years with Mahindra Racing have been a very rewarding journey,” said De Vries, the 2020/21 Formula E world champion. “We have made great progress together, and third place in the teams' championship last season was a great recognition of the hard work put in by the whole team. I am very proud of what we have achieved together and the direction we have taken. I am delighted to continue with Mahindra Racing as we enter the GEN4 era. It represents a completely new challenge for everyone in Formula E, with a lot to learn and discover. I am excited to face it with the team and see where this next chapter takes us.”
For Mortara, the 2026/2027 season will be his tenth in Formula E. The Swiss driver has collected six E-Prix victories in his career. “I am really happy to continue with the team,” said Mortara. “Our collaboration over the last three seasons has been very positive, with constantly improving results. Together we have raised our performance at every level and I am proud of what we have built. Facing my tenth season in Formula E, we know the year ahead will be a real challenge, especially on the technical side, given the many new things. I am curious and excited to face this challenge with the team as we move to the new GEN4 cars.”
With this confirmation, Mahindra joins Andretti, Citroen, Opel, Envision, and Nissan as teams that have completed their driver line-up for next season. This move demonstrates Mahindra's stability and ambition to remain competitive at the top of Formula E.
The GEN4 era will bring significant changes to the technical regulations, including increased power and energy efficiency. Mahindra, with the experience of De Vries and Mortara, hopes to capitalize on the momentum to challenge for the title. The combination of De Vries' speed and Mortara's consistency is a valuable asset in facing increasingly fierce competition.
