The Ferrari Formula 1 team has completed a strategic technical acquisition for the 2026 season by securing a key engineer from Mercedes' power trains division to bolster their chassis department.
According to professional records, Jasper van Schaick has officially transitioned to Maranello as a chassis vehicle system specialist this October. This move marks a major career shift following a tenure of nearly eight years with Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrain beginning in 2018.
During his time at Brixworth, van Schaick served as a mechanical engineer from 2018 to 2024, focusing on the design of F1 power unit systems and maintaining close collaboration with the chassis group. By September 2024, he advanced to a concept engineer role, conceptualizing next-generation power unit ideas.

His previous tenure at Mercedes directly coincided with Lewis Hamilton securing his world championship titles in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Van Schaick's arrival at Ferrari now reunites him with the British driver.
The current 2026 campaign has proven significantly more fruitful for the veteran driver, highlighted by his breakthrough maiden victory with Ferrari at the Barcelona Grand Prix. Heading into the crucial stretch of the championship, Hamilton sits third in the drivers' standings with 229 points.
