The Formula 1 community has been swept into a heated debate after a viral video emerged showing Lando Norris seemingly making a joke at the expense of Lance Stroll during a night out following the Singapore Grand Prix. The short clip has quickly circulated across social media platforms, garnering over three million views on X and dividing opinions among racing enthusiasts worldwide.
The controversial footage was originally posted by the fan account MV3daily on the night of the race. In the video, the McLaren star driver is seen out with Haas competitor Ollie Bearman while someone in the surrounding crowd raises a sign reading 'To the best driver'. Amidst the commotion, the British driver is captured shouting out loud to inquire about the whereabouts of the Aston Martin driver.
In the footage, the McLaren driver is heard shouting 'Where's Lance, where's Lance?', a remark that numerous F1 fans interpreted as a direct dig. This context is further amplified by the fact that the Canadian driver has yet to score a single championship point this season and recently became the first driver in history to reach 100 Q1 eliminations.
The account that initially shared the video expressed clear criticism in its post, stating that while the Aston Martin driver might not be the grid's finest, a basic level of decency should be maintained. The online debate escalated so rapidly that the sharing account subsequently posted a follow-up message asking its followers to calm down and dial back the aggressive rhetoric in the replies.
This off-track controversy compounds what was already a difficult weekend for the reigning world champion following an on-track collision with his teammate during the sprint race. As the paddock prepares for the upcoming rounds, neither driver involved has issued an official statement regarding the viral clip.
