Lando Norris faced a frustrating qualifying session at the Formula 1 Bahrain GP in Malaysia, ending up in seventh place. The McLaren charger narrowly edged out his teammate Oscar Piastri by a mere five thousandths of a second during a tightly contested Q3 shootout at Sepang.
Throughout the session, the British driver pointed to a persistent straight-line speed deficit as the primary roadblock to a higher grid position. Despite feeling that his actual driving lap was strong, the engine performance limitations on the straights severely hurt his overall progression.
"Every time I get a good exit, I'm just slower at the end of the straight," Norris admitted, expressing his visible annoyance at watching valuable lap time slip away on every single acceleration zone.

With a significant gap to the front-runners and mounting concerns over high thermal degradation, Sunday's race promises a strategic chess match. Tyre wear will play a critical role, forcing teams to adopt differing approaches as they tackle the demanding Sepang layout.
