The battle for supremacy at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez reached a fever pitch as Lando Norris secured the benchmark lap time in a dramatic third free practice session at the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix. Punching in a stellar effort of 1:17.600, the McLaren charger threw down a serious marker just hours before the all-important qualifying showdown.
The fight at the summit of the timing sheets delivered edge-of-the-seat entertainment throughout the final thirty minutes. Kimi Antonelli had briefly stunned the paddock with a blistering lap that looked untouchable, only for Norris to respond masterfully and pip his young rival by a mere thousandth of a second, highlighting the razor-thin margins defining the front-running pack.
Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc maintained his strong weekend momentum by slotting into third place for Ferrari, showcasing the formidable single-lap pace of the Scuderia machinery. Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen rounded out a highly competitive top five, setting the stage for an unpredictable and fiercely contested grid battle.

However, the morning session brought major headaches further down the pit lane, particularly for Audi and the local heroes. Gabriel Bortoleto managed only two installation laps before recurring technical gremlins sidelined his car. At the same time, home favourite Sergio Perez was forced to watch from the Cadillac garage during a precautionary power unit change.
Substitute driver Ryo Hirakawa continued his steep learning curve with Haas, battling through limited track time. As the paddock prepares for the qualifying battles ahead, the stage is set for an intense tactical duel under mounting pressure.
