The battle for supremacy at the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix reached a fever pitch during the final practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, where Lando Norris edged out his rivals. The British driver clinched the top spot with a blistering lap time of 1m17.600s, narrowly beating Mercedes rising star Kimi Antonelli by a margin of just one thousandth of a second in a dramatic end to the hour-long session.
The crucial practice hour initially saw Charles Leclerc and his teammate trading early benchmark times on medium tyres as the front-running teams searched for optimal setup balance. However, the times tumbled dramatically once the field switched to soft compound rubber for qualifying simulations. Antonelli appeared poised to secure the session's ultimate benchmark after completing a careful two-lap preparation sequence, only to be dethroned by Norris in the dying moments.
Ferrari's pace remained a potent threat as Charles Leclerc recovered to claim third place overall, just 0.117s adrift of the pacesetting McLaren despite facing initial disruptions on his qualifying simulation runs. Veteran teammate Lewis Hamilton slotted into sixth position, keeping the Scuderia firmly in the conversation for a strong grid position ahead of the afternoon shootout.

Further down the order, Max Verstappen battled late brake gremlins that compromised his final push, leaving the Red Bull charger fifth fastest behind Oscar Piastri. Meanwhile, home favourite Sergio Perez endured a frustrating session in the garage due to a precautionary power unit change.
