The action at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace delivered a thrilling spectacle as Lando Norris triumphed in a chaotic race that started and ended under wet conditions. Despite a sluggish start from pole position that saw him drop down the order on the opening lap, the British driver capitalized on shifting track conditions and astute pit stop strategies to carve his way back to the front, ultimately crossing the finish line 14.6 seconds clear of his nearest rival to claim his third victory of the season.

Behind the leader, Max Verstappen produced another extraordinary recovery drive for the ages. Starting from 21st on the grid following a power unit penalty, the Red Bull Racing star sliced through the field with supreme aggression to clinch a remarkable second-place finish. His teammate Isack Hadjar completed the podium positions in third, securing a valuable haul of points and demonstrating the sheer depth of performance within the Milton Keynes squad during a demanding afternoon.

The race was heavily shaped by evolving grip levels, catching out several front-runners during the intermediate phases. Kimi Antonelli led the opening stages before struggling with tire wear and off-track excursions, eventually crossing the line in fifth place. Meanwhile, George Russell recovered brilliantly from a spin at the pit lane exit to salvage fourth position, ensuring crucial points toward the team's ultimate championship objectives.

Crucially, the collective points finish was more than enough for Mercedes to mathematically seal the 2026 constructors' championship ahead of Ferrari. This milestone completed a sensational championship double for the Brackley-based outfit following earlier title successes. Ferrari endured a frustrating race as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton struggled to replicate Verstappen's charge from the rear, finishing seventh and ninth respectively and ending their hopes of extending the constructor battle into the final rounds.

Reflecting on his hard-fought victory, Norris admitted the race demanded absolute concentration from start to finish. "It was a very tough race. Very tough," Norris said. "Obviously not the best of launches off the line, but a lot of challenges today. With the conditions, going on slicks in the wet is always tough. Especially when you are pushing for the lead and trying to catch up a little bit. So the main thing today was I just kept it cool and didn't make any mistakes, and I had the pace when I needed to. So it was good to be back on the top step."
