Kimi Antonelli secured his ninth victory of the 2026 season at the Circuit of The Americas, but the Italian youngster was forced to wait another week before clinching his maiden Formula 1 world championship.
The 20-year-old delivered a controlled and dominant performance throughout the 56-lap encounter in Austin. However, with Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton finishing in fourth place and Mercedes teammate George Russell crossing the line in eighth, Antonelli could not mathematically seal the crown just yet. He now holds a 120-point advantage over Russell with only 125 points remaining across the final five rounds.
Behind the dominant race winner, Charles Leclerc carved his way past Max Verstappen on lap 49 to claim second place on the podium, finishing roughly 13 seconds adrift of the victorious Mercedes.

Defending world champion Lando Norris successfully executed a one-stop strategy to take fifth position behind Hamilton. Meanwhile, Isack Hadjar delivered a strong run for Red Bull to split the field in sixth ahead of Oscar Piastri.
George Russell endured a difficult afternoon after picking up a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage during an opening-lap battle with Piastri, ultimately finishing 54 seconds behind his race-winning teammate.
Further down the points paying positions, Liam Lawson finished ninth for Racing Bulls, while Pierre Gasly claimed the final point for Alpine in tenth. The relatively straightforward race saw Valtteri Bottas, Franco Colapinto, and Ollie Bearman all fail to reach the checkered flag.
