Antonelli: F1 Break Needed, But I'll Be Bored

Kimi Antonelli admits the Formula 1 summer break comes at the right time, even though he already anticipates feeling restless and eager to return to racing. The Mercedes driver leads the championship by 50 points, and he knows this rest is crucial to maintain his physical and mental condition.

In an interview with media, Antonelli revealed that this season has felt particularly long. "I feel like it's needed," he said. "It's been almost eight months flat out. If I look back, I started activities on the 3rd of January this season. So it was pretty flat out."

Antonelli also admitted he had worried about losing momentum during the long break before Miami. "Before Miami, I thought, 'Oh my God, like a four-week break.' Just coming off Japan with a race win, I was like, 'Oh my God, I actually might lose the momentum.' But then, going into Miami FP1, I felt great in the car," he recalled.

Now, with the summer break being the only real pause in the season, Antonelli understands the importance of truly resting. "I'm sure after three or four days, I'm going to be busting my balls," he said with a grin. "I'm going to be bored, and I'll want to be back on track. Luckily, where I'm going, there's a go-kart track. So I'll be practicing."

The young Italian driver emphasized that this break is a chance to recharge. "I want to enjoy time with family and friends, recharge the body and mind to be ready for the second half of the season," he explained.

With a 50-point lead, Kimi Antonelli is in a strong position to claim his first world title. However, rivals like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are sure to put up a fierce fight in the remaining races. Will this break help or hinder Antonelli's momentum?
