The race weekend at the Lusail International Circuit delivered a remarkable story of physical and mental resilience for Jorge Martin. The Aprilia Racing star showcased incredible determination by pushing through severe wrist pain to keep his dwindling world championship hopes alive.
The Spaniard's journey in Qatar was anything but straightforward. Having contemplated staying home earlier in the week due to a fractured right wrist, he not only made the trip but delivered a gritty performance. A brilliant third place in the Saturday sprint followed by a hard-fought seventh place in Sunday's grand prix successfully delayed Marc Marquez from sealing the title celebrations prematurely.
Starting from deep down the grid added immense risk and difficulty to his task. The physical limitations heavily restricted his ability to change direction and brake aggressively, making the demanding long-run pace at Lusail a true test of endurance.

"I am proud of what I have done because on Monday and Tuesday I did not even want to come here, and in the end I managed to finish both races," Martin reflected on Sunday evening. "We are going to Portugal still in with a chance. It is getting harder and harder, but we are still there."
The physical toll on his body became increasingly evident as the laps ticked down during the main race, where every braking zone demanded maximum effort from a compromised right wrist.
"I cannot ride properly, I cannot brake properly and I cannot push the bike to the limit. It was really tough towards the end. For the last three laps, I just wanted the race to be over," he admitted.
Looking ahead to the upcoming trip to the Algarve International Circuit, the `#89` rider remains optimistic about his physical recovery as he prepares for the penultimate round of the 2026 season.
"My hand is swollen up like a melon, but I think I will be almost 100 percent fit in Portugal. I am tough and stubborn. There is something inside me that keeps pushing me to fight," he concluded.
