Yamaha has officially confirmed the signing of Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura as its factory MotoGP riders for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The announcement was made on 1 July through an official statement published by MotoGP.com.

The move marks a major step in Yamaha's long-term rebuilding project ahead of MotoGP's all-new technical regulations in 2027. The Japanese manufacturer has opted for a combination of proven championship-winning experience and emerging young talent to lead its next generation challenge.

Martin joins Yamaha as the reigning 2024 MotoGP World Champion and one of the most accomplished riders on the current grid. His race-winning pedigree, consistency, and championship mentality are expected to play a central role in accelerating Yamaha's return to the front.

Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director Paolo Pavesio described the new rider line-up as a clear statement of the manufacturer's ambitions for MotoGP's new era.

"We are delighted to welcome Jorge and Ai to the Yamaha Factory MotoGP Team as we enter the new era in 2027. Securing riders of this calibre underlines both our ambition and our confidence in this project," Pavesio said in Yamaha's official statement published by MotoGP.com.

Pavesio added that Martin's speed, determination and championship-winning mentality make him the ideal rider to lead Yamaha's resurgence, while Ogura's remarkable development, talent and work ethic convinced the manufacturer he can become one of MotoGP's leading riders in the years ahead.
