Jess Hawkins Predicts Female F1 Driver Within 'A Few Years' TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Jess Hawkins has praised F1 Academy for its opportunities for female drivers

Aston Martin ambassador and former W Series racer Jess Hawkins believes a full-time female Formula 1 driver will emerge within "a few years," as momentum builds behind women's participation in motorsport.

Speaking on the Road to Success podcast, Hawkins, who has tested an F1 car, insisted that women are physically capable of competing at the highest level. "I think we're a few years away from it. But I do believe it will happen," she said. "I am absolutely convinced women are strong enough for Formula 1. I've driven one myself for half a race distance, and I could have done a whole race distance."

She acknowledged that her neck struggled during the test but attributed it to the physical demands of the car, not her gender. "My neck was struggling. But every single person's first time in an F1 car, their neck struggles. That wasn't because I was a female," she explained. "Even F1 drivers, their first time back after a year, their neck is sore. It's about adaptation, not gender."

Hawkins also praised the impact of F1 Academy, which now supports F1 races and provides unprecedented track time for young female drivers. "It is different now. F1 Academy is amazing; I could have only dreamt of that at my age," she said. "Some drivers will sink, but the ones who swim will be good enough to fight for F1 seats."
