Jamie Chadwick is more than just a female driver on the European Le Mans Series grid. This season, she is in her second year in LMP2 with IDEC Sport, but with an added role as part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Programme—a bridge for young drivers aiming for a Hypercar seat in the WEC.
Speaking to Motorsport Week at Silverstone last weekend, Chadwick highlighted the programme's value. “It’s really good. Last year, before they went into Hypercar, a lot of people now in the Hypercar team were involved,” she said. “That helped a lot, both with engineers and mechanics, and drivers like Dani (Juncadella) and Mathys (Jaubert) moving up. There’s clear progression.”
Genesis is the only Hypercar team in WEC with a full junior programme. In collaboration with IDEC Sport, they field a Genesis-powered LMP2 car under the Trajectory Programme. Launched in 2025, ahead of the Genesis Hypercar debut, the initial lineup featured Jamie Chadwick, Mathys Jaubert, and Dani Juncadella. The latter two have since graduated to full-time Hypercar seats.
This year, Chadwick is joined by Laurents Horr and Valerio Rinicella. “Their support for me has been great. I get the opportunity to do testing in the car and lean on the team where possible. I think it makes a big difference both for them and for us,” she added.
On track, the trio has been consistent. The Genesis-liveried #18 car finished fourth in the first three races before taking third place at the 4 Hours of Spa last month. They currently sit third in the standings with 52 points, with two races remaining.
“It’s been very consistent,” Chadwick said of her season. “In theory we finish fourth on the road in every race. We bumped up to the podium in the last one, which is always a good thing. Obviously we want more. Last year a lot of things fell our way and we had amazing results. We want to replicate that. But I think we made really good progress, so I’m happy with the stuff I’ve made from last year to this year. Still two races to go.”
For Chadwick, her second LMP2 season has brought greater confidence. “With ELMS it’s only six races, so it’s not loads of races to get your teeth into. So naturally every race I feel like I get better and stronger. This year, I think I’ve made a big step from last year. I’ve really enjoyed it,” she explained. With two races left, Chadwick and her team are determined to finish the season on a high.
