Big news from the WorldSBK paddock: Jack Miller has reportedly reached an agreement with Yamaha to race in WorldSBK starting in 2027. Although there is no official confirmation yet, several Italian media report that the 31-year-old Australian will leave MotoGP and join the Pata Maxus Yamaha team.
Miller is already under contract with Yamaha for MotoGP 2026 with Prima Pramac Yamaha, where he will be teammates with Toprak Razgatlıoglu. This move is seen as a natural continuation of the partnership, while opening a new chapter in his career. Negotiations were reportedly facilitated by Nicolo Canepa, Yamaha's manager, who flew to Silverstone to meet Miller.
The move makes even more sense after Xavi Vierge decided to leave Yamaha at the end of this season. Vierge, who was the main candidate to stay, is reportedly set to join Barni Spark Racing Team. With that, the seat at Pata Maxus Yamaha is open, and Miller is ready to fill it as Andrea Locatelli's teammate.

One of the biggest hurdles in the negotiations was salary. Miller initially asked for around one million euros per season, a figure deemed too high by Yamaha, which has a salary cap of about 500,000 euros for WorldSBK riders. However, after tough negotiations, the two parties reportedly reached a compromise between those figures, plus performance bonuses.
Miller is no stranger to Yamaha in endurance racing. He has already stood on the podium twice at the Suzuka 8 Hours with Yamaha, including second place in 2025 and 2026. This experience is believed to be an asset that convinces Yamaha that Miller can quickly adapt to the Yamaha R1 in WorldSBK.
If confirmed, Miller will be one of the biggest names to move from MotoGP to WorldSBK in recent years. This move not only strengthens the WorldSBK grid but also adds new flavor to the competition with riders like Toprak and Locatelli. Fans will surely look forward to exciting battles on track.
