The outspoken comments made by the young French driver immediately triggered a sharp and defensive reaction from Scuderia star Charles Leclerc.
The tension unfolded as the racing circus arrived at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Leclerc, usually known for his composed demeanor when facing media queries or paddock chatter, clearly felt provoked by the bold assertions made by his fellow competitor regarding the competitive pecking order of the recent night race.
Speaking directly to media representatives, Leclerc did not hold back his frustration, dismissing the remarks as utter nonsense. The Monegasque driver emphasized that outsiders possess zero internal insight into how the red machines operate compared to the actual drivers behind the wheel, making external assumptions completely irrelevant to him.
Despite the pushback, Hadjar doubled down on his initial stance with an even more provocative statement regarding world champion Max Verstappen. The 22-year-old asserted that if the reigning champion had been placed inside the cockpit of the Maranello challenger at Marina Bay, he would have secured victory by an even larger margin.
Elaborating on his technical viewpoint, Hadjar pointed out that Verstappen's narrow half-tenth pole position advantage in Q3 was the decisive factor, especially given the tire allocation constraints faced by competitors during the grueling street race under the lights.
